Who can use this skill?[edit]

The question is basically: can any class use this skill as long as some skill points are spent on it? Tihocan 11:08, March 9, 2006 (EST)

Only with atleast 1 level of rogue can you find and disable traps Neouni 03:33, December 26, 2010 (EST)
To expand on what Neouni said: Actually non-rogue/artificers can find traps up to DC20. It follows the pnp ruling in that regard. Traps over search/spot DC20 cannot be found by non rogues. And yea only rogues/artificers may attempt to disable them. I've actaully found traps in quests as high as level10 on my bbn - as some are actually bugged and have a very low search/spot DC --Shade 02:43, March 29, 2012 (EDT)

Also which thieves tools are used. I had masterwork thieves tools in my inventory, but it still used the non-masterwork ones? how do I control which thieves tools are used (I assumed it was best + first, but I guess I was wrong). - Infinull

i think its determined by where the thief tools are in your backpack. first one from page one, top left to right is used. --yoko5000 04:13, July 20, 2010 (EDT)
Yep, that's exactly how it goes. LrdSlvrhnd 17:55, July 24, 2010 (EDT)
I've seen it take tools from page 3 instead of page 1, i keep my tools and health kits and repair kits there Neouni 03:30, December 26, 2010 (EST)

Critical Success[edit]

Anyone know how much you need to surpass the DC to achieve a critical success? This may help with the trap DC page, since it can help setting the DC range if anyone overleveled run a quest for test purposes.--Nibelung (ContributionsMessage) 16:01, May 13, 2012 (EDT)

IIrc, DC -5 = crit fail and DC +5 = crit success... I do not remember where I saw that though, and have not been able to test it myself. -- ShoeMaker (Contributions Message) 19:33, May 13, 2012 (EDT)
Crit fail, yes. It's DC-5. Crit Success should be a bit higher, or we would see much more crit successes around in game. I think I'll start with a level 1 rogue in normal Heyton's Rest (acid trap DC 13) and find out from there. --Nibelung (ContributionsMessage) 14:19, May 14, 2012 (EDT)
Testing right now on the DC 13 trap: 32 Success; 33: Critical. It's a crit on DC+20 roll.--Nibelung (ContributionsMessage) 02:05, May 16, 2012 (EDT)

Prefix / Suffix[edit]

  • What is the old prefix and suffix name for this item enchantment? For example, 'of the eagle' refers to spot. ;>jamvaru (ContribsMessage) 12:20, February 5, 2017 (EST)
    • Also, is there a page for old prefix and suffix identifiers? I am at a lost after much searching here and elsewhere. ;>jamvaru (ContribsMessage) 12:22, February 5, 2017 (EST)
      • Yes, really on the Rogue page; it possibly would help immensely if there was a link to the prefix and suffix for "Trap specialist" gear, but the following should help: Update 29 randomly generated loot#Skills.
        Name on Item and (skill)
        • Spot (Spot)
        • Inspected (Search)
        • Tactful (Disable Device)
        • Burglar's (Open Lock)
Historic Name on Item, Suffixes and (skill)
        • ... of the Eagle (Spot)
        • ... of Minute Seeing (Search)
        • ... of Disabling (Disable Device)
        • ... of Escape (Open Lock)
I know somebody on Thelanis in-game randomly asked me this question a few days back before the U34 hotfix. Albeit I'm not quite sure where on the DDO Wiki the relevant page is for the old prefix/suffix without investigating... so I'm doing this from memory.
