Armor bonus vs armor class[edit]

I know armor class is used more frequently, but the adamantine body feat doesnt give a +8 armor class it gives a +8 armor bonus. An armor class is a number, that is modified by the armor bonus, shield bonus, dexterity modifier, dodge bonuses, and the natural armor bonus. So a warforged with adamantine body weilding a large shield +1 and a dex of 12 wearing an amulet of natural armor +1 and a ring of protection +2 would have an armor class of

  • 10 (base)
  • +8 (armor)
  • +3 (shield bonus that is enhanced one by the enhancement bonus on the shield)
  • +1 (dex)
  • +1 (natural armor)
  • +1 (deflection due to the ring)
  • = 24 armor class.

Understood. I was confused because armor bonus currently redirects to armor class, so I thought it was the same. Tihocan 10:34, March 10, 2006 (EST)
Ahh yeah armor get complicated with lots of jargon. I updated the armor bonus page to reflect that. -- koolkat 11:08, March 10, 2006 (EST)
