Description
You point your finger and utter the incantation, releasing a black ray of crackling negative energy that suppresses the life force of any living creature it strikes. The subject hit suffers 1d4 negative levels.
Each negative level gives a creature a -2 penalty on attack rolls, saves, skill checks, ability checks. Also inflicts a -1 penalty to effective level (affects things like spells and abilities which rely on caster level or character level). Negative levels stack.
If the target has as many negative levels as its HD (equal to level for players and most monsters, but some monsters have more HD then they have levels) it dies.
As of U51, the Enervation spell now applies a Negative Damage Over Time effect.
